Auditions for ‘Bent’

Remember there is a chance to audition for the next production this Tuesday 20 March 2018.

“Bent” a play by Martin Sherman that took the theatre world by storm when it was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre in 1979 with Ian McKellen in the leading role.

It is a hard hitting play about the changes to laws about homosexuality in 1930’s Germany and how along with the intelligentsia, jews, criminals and gypsies they were ostracised by society and rounded up to be dealt with by the authorities

Open Auditions are from 7.45pm. Come along and have a try

WESTERN AREA Quarter Final – Weymouth Drama club
Warehouse Theatre

There will be 4 One Act Plays, two plays from the Totton Festival and two from the Swindon Festival. They are competing for a place in the Semi Final at Dawlish.
Venue:  The Warehouse, 7 HOPE STREET, WEYMOUTH, Dorset – DT4 8TA
Date:  Saturday 7th APRIL 2018
Sessions at 2-00pm & 7-00pm
Tickets:  All seats £7-00 per session (£12-00 if both sessions booked together)

The 39 Steps

Production dates are 19-21 April 2018. All performances are at Weymouth pavilion and tickets are on sale now. You can get your tickets via the Pavilion website.

There are very limited spaces for the combat workshop on Saturday 28 April. If you wish to book a place you must contact Jacqui Trent no later than 23 March to reserve your space.

Wanted By Weymouth Civic Society – Street Drama Enthusiasts
Proposal for Civic Day 2018 16th June
In order to highlight some of the history of Weymouth and to draw attention to the plaques on various buildings, the proposal is to have some ‘happening’ taking place near a number of the plaques.

If you are interested in creating and performing small sketches at various places around Weymouth Town Centre On Saturday 16th June 2018, please come to a meeting at:
Weymouth Baptist Church (facing Alexandra Garden – front of building, side door) at 7.30pm on Tuesday 27th March to find out more (alternatively, e-mail mben980@yahoo.co.uk).

Acting in film opportunity

Committee News

The committee are please to welcome Jacqui Martin. Jacqui has been co-opted to the position of secretary and comes with a wealth of experience. We would also like to than Jan Dench for filling the breach over the last several months. We are still looking for a business manager.
We have vacancies for a general committee posts as well as other non committee roles. Any time you can offer could make a difference and it might even be fun!!!

We are always looking for new plays, new directors, new ideas. If you would like to consider putting a play forward, please come and talk to one of the committee. We are here to support you and it is not as daunting as it might first seem. Please pass any plays to be read to Jan Dench who has kindly agreed to take on the role of reading secretary.
