Cease Fire Babies

The Curtain Raisers are performing Ceasefire Babies at the Warehouse theatre on 16th & 17th February with tickets available from and Ticket Source.

The Ceasefire Babies is one of 10 brand new plays written especially for Connections by a selection of the best play-writing talent in the UK. How do we form our allegiances and beliefs? Do we make our own decisions, or do we inherit them? Can a cycle of ideology and disagreement be broken? And who can take the first step? The annual bonfire preparations are underway; Mikey’s coming home from the Centre and his sister Jamie cannot wait. But there is change in the air and not everyone’s ready for it. Jamie wants to reignite her father and uncle’s old conflicts, but Mikey and their friends must decide whether to take hold of their own destinies, or allow the ghosts of the past to dictate their futures.

This is in conjunction with the National Theatre Connections Project with support from The Egg Theatre in Bath and a National Theatre Director will be in attendance at the performance on 17 February and will provide the team with development notes.

Future Productions

The Bridge the Gap(BTG) 16-23 group will be performing a play called Eclipse on 23rd & 24th February 2018 at the Warehouse. More details to follow.
And another offering to watch out for : Curtain Raisers are also performing Goodnight Mr Tom at Weymouth Pavilion on 23rd to the 26th October 2018.

One Act and Full Length Play offers Wanted

We still need ideas for a full length play to be performed the week of 28th May to 1st June at the Warehouse Theatre. Please get your thinking caps on.

In addition the committee would be keen to support a friends evening of 1 or 2 One Act Plays before the season closes in early July. These plays could be rehearsed on Tuesday evenings. If you have a play in mind please speak to a member of committee and let us know how we can support you to get things off the ground.

Murder Mystery Evening – Further Performances

If you missed the Murder mystery performance in December it will be performed again by the Drama Club at the Nothe Fort on 10th March.

We have also been asked to perform this murder mystery on 27 March for the W.I and again on 7 April for the RNLI both at the Warehouse Theatre.

We are looking for volunteers to support catering for the WI event on 27 March 2018. Please contact Jan Dench  if you can assist with this.

Warehouse redecoration

With a little help from his friends, our Chairman Alan Knight has been working hard to improve the facilities for cast members when doing productions at the warehouse. The upstairs area has had a makeover with a newly installed carpet, re-decoration and provision of make-up tables with lights and mirrors. The wardrobe and props storage has also been rearranged to provide a more usable and open space. A big thank you to Alan and Richard Grafton and anyone else who has supported this project.
