Letter to the Friends of Weymouth Drama Club

Dear Friends,

It is with sadness that Ann Sawtell after many years of hard work serving the Friends as decided to step down as secretary. I know that you will all join me in thanking her for coordinating the Friends so well.

As many of you know, we became a charity a few years ago and one of our stated aims as a charity is to promote that art of theatre and drama, an aim I know that many of our Friends share. As a club we recognise the enormous support that the Friends provide to our productions not only as paying audience members but also in providing help front of house and promoting our plays.

We have also in the past been able to provide Friends nights however in recent years these have been fewer, partly because of the increase in number of plays we have been have doing at the Warehouse and also because of the fact that we have fewer directors.

As a committee we would like to encourage the production of one act plays by budding directors which could then be staged as free nights for friends, members and the general public.

As such the committee have proposed that we rename the Friends, Patrons of Weymouth Drama Club with the primary aim of supporting our work in promoting the art of theatre and drama. We would like to incorporate them more into the membership, they would receive the membership newsletter and be invited and welcome at all social events. We would also like to have a Patrons night for Warehouse productions, perhaps on Dress rehearsal night which would be free to Patrons.

We would welcome any comments and suggestions on these new proposals as well as general comments on things you would like to see or events you might like to be involved in. Please e-mail the Chairman (racheltsmith@me.com) or write to the committee c/o the Warehouse Theatre, & Hope Street, Weymouth, DT4 8TU

Once again the committee would like to thank you for your continued support for our work.

Yours Sincerely

Weymouth Drama Club Committee.
